All about the Marrakech to Chegaga Desert 4 Days.

Day 1 Marrakech - Draa valley - Zagora

This memorable trip starts with the scenic drive from Marrakech over the Tizi-N-Tichka pass (2’260 m), where you can spot the traditional Berber villages with its inhabitants working and chatting at the roadside. After crossing the Anti-Atlas, you can visit several Kasbahs like the impressive «Tamnougalte» after Ouarzazate.
We’ll continue to the green and peaceful Draa Valley which is famous for its huge date groves and henna fields. After your arrival in the desert capitol Zagora, you will have dinner in the riad where you’ll spend the night.
Day 2 Zagora - Mhamed - Erg Chegaga

After breakfast, we’ll have enough time to visit Zagora and its surroundings like the Jewish quarter in Amzerou and have a look at the huge palm groves. Afterwards, we’ll continue our trip towards the desert to Mhamid. Along the way, we stop at a Saadian town of the 16th century which is called «Tamgroute». There, we are able to visit an old coran library and a subterranean Kasbah. Mhamid is the end of the Draa valley as well as the end of civilization. We’ll have our Pic Nic-lunch in the desert and continue direction Erg Chegaga, where we’ll arrive before sunset. Hop on a camel and walk at the desert pace along the dunes with its diverse colors. We’ll arrive at the desert camp where you’ll pass the night in a nomad tent or under the shining stars in the middle of impressive sand dunes. A traditional dinner is served and you can spend the night watching for shooting stars or dance around the camp fire to the beat of the desert drums.
Day 3 Erg Chegaga - Foum Zguid - Taznakht - Ait Benhaddou

After enjoying the sunrise at the top of the sand dunes, you’ll have your breakfast in the desert camp before the journey with the 4×4 car starts. Discover the the old Paris-Dakar road to Foum Zguid and cross the Iriqui lake, which is a temporary wet land during rain periods. In this national park you’ll have the chance to spot some wild animals like lizards, snakes, gazelles and even hyenas with a little luck. Lunch will be served in the berber village Taznakht.
Dinner and overnight in a Riad in Aït-Ben-Haddou or Ouarzazate.
Day 4 Ait Benhaddou - Telouet - Marrakech

In the morning, after a rich moroccan breakfast, another highlight awaits you: the famous Kasbah Aït-Ben-Haddou, the fortified clay city with its numerous ksars and kasbahs, where several famous movies such as Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven and Prince of Persia have been shot. After the visit, we continue our trip to the high Atlas mountains and make a stop at the «Telouet Kasbah» before heading back to Marrakech, where you’ll be dropped of in your hotel or riad in the evening.
